Thousands of worshipers held Eid Al Adha prayers organized by the Ministry of Awqaf today in Al Hussein Sports City.

The Grand Mufti of the Kingdom, Muhammad Al Khalaylah held the Eid Khutbah, or sermon, in which he talked about how Eid is about sacrifice and giving, and a day of festivities and happiness.

The Mufti talked about sacrificing livestock, a tradition inspired by the story of Prophet Ibrahim when he was asked by God to sacrifice his son, Ismael, as a test.

As Ibrahim passed God’s test by obeying his commands, Ismael was spared, and a lamb was sacrificed in his stead.

Eid prayers were held in 494 other areas, in addition to mosques, all across the Kingdom, at 6:45 a.m today.
