Israeli forces shot and injured two young Palestinian men early Tuesday, as clashes erupted after soldiers escorted hundreds of settlers and right-wing Israelis to Joseph’s Tomb near Balata refugee camp in the occupied West Bank district of Nablus.

Palestinian security sources told Ma'an new agency that five busloads of Israelis stormed the area to perform religious rituals at Joseph's Tomb, while under heavy military protection. The tomb is located in an area controlled by the Palestinian Authority.

Young Palestinian men reportedly clashed with the Israeli soldiers around the site, with two young men shot and injured while another was detained.
Joseph's Tomb is revered by Jews, Muslims, Christians, and Samaritans alike.

The Israeli military allows Jews to visit as part of organized pilgrimages, and prohibit Muslims from worshiping on the site, despite the shrine being located under full Palestinian Authority control.

Additionally, Israeli settlers frequently visit Joseph's Tomb under the protection of Israeli forces, and often raid Palestinian villages in the area and fire tear gas canisters into the nearby Balata refugee camp.
