Three Guards from Jordan's General Directorate of Gendarmerie were injured in riots this morning in the area of Russaifeh, after being shot in the district of Russaifeh.

Security sources say the three guards were injured after guards were sent to disperse violent riots in the district, resulting in rioters opening fire directly on them. The injured guards were immediately transferred to a nearby hospital to treat the wounds, and are currently at moderate health.

The source also added that Russaifeh returned to normalcy following the incident, after more security and Gendarmerie forces were sent to disperse rioters.

Member of Parliament Mohammad al-Dhawahri issued a statement condemning the riots, saying youth and families in the area feel in danger of being targets.

Russaifeh has been witnessing several days of civil disobedience, after the death of a teenager at the hands of rioters.

The MP comment: "some are trying to cause a rift between the clans by adding oil to the flames; the martyr is the son of everyone in Russaifeh an no one accepts what occured or succumbing to the rift God forbid".
