Reported in the Jordan Times, a group of volunteers organized by the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), conducted an event to clean the forest to teach the importance of maintaining a green and healthy environment.

The agency invited over 100 orphaned girls from Jerash and Sakib to participate as well, aiming to educate young children about forest conservation.

Saddam al-Wdhan, a representative from Jordan's Ministry of Environemt, gave a lecture about basic information on the environment and the importance of recycling. During activities, volunteers collected trash dumped by previous visitors to the forest.

KOICA organizes the KOICA Alumni Association of Jordan (KAAJ), a platform founded in 2008 which focuses cultural events and environment-related activities, bringing Korean culture to Jordan and helping maintain its natural wonder.

KAAJ hopes that these events will promote proper maintenance of Jordan's forests, and spreads awareness of Jordan's need to focus on proper trash disposal.

The event comes at a necessary time, following a fire last week which burned down 10 dunums of forest in Dibbeen.
