Religious authorities in Jerusalem have called on Palestinians to head to Al Aqsa in protest throughout the week, and especially on Tuesday, in order to “prevent any possible violation the Mosque might suffer by Israel,” in a statement issued today.

“The decision to allow Knesset members into Al Aqsa Mosque is provocative, illegal, illegitimate and inhumane. It comes from an irresponsible authority. Al Aqsa is for Muslims alone,” said the statement.

Israeli Authorities have recently allowed Knesset members to enter the courtyards of Al Aqsa, and the Israeli police have decided to enforce the decision starting next Tuesday.

In October 2015, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu decided to bar members of the Knesset from entering Al Aqsa, in order to avoid escalations in the West Bank as a result of recurring violations by Israeli settlers at the Mosque.
