In a statement made by Member of Parliament Tareq Khoury, the MP questioned why Jordan's decentralisation elections two weeks ago witnessed low voter turnout at 31.71%.

During the symposium, Khoury attributed low voter turnout to the exclusion and marginalisation of Jordanians with Palestinian origin. He also asserted that the behavior is gradually becoming more noticeable.

According to Khoury, questions must be asked in order to get to necessary answers, in an attempt to remedy the problem. Noting that reasons behind low turnout might be difficult to discuss, they must nontheless be considered before the next elections.
