Journalists and photographers have reportedly been banned from entering voting centers in Suwaileh and Ajloun, as the decentralised and municipal elections kick off today, according to Khaled Quda, Member of the Journalists Syndicate Council in Jordan.

Qudah pointed out that the ban was an individual decision coming from the chairmen of committees.

The independent commission was informed and the situation has reportedly been resolved.

According to an August report by the Centre for Defending Freedom of Journalists (CDFJ), there were sixteen press freedom violations in four cases registered in July in Jordan.

Violations reportedly included journalists being prevented from covering specific issues, content of their cameras being deleted, threats, journalists being denied entry to the Kingdom, being incited against, pre-monitoring and prevention to publish or distribute media content.
