The Public Service Directorate (PSD) issued a statement prohibiting all of its personnel from participating in the coming decentralized and municipal elections.

The PSD instructed all of its personnel to take to their stations on Monday, and not to partake in the election process, or to intervene in it unless their duty to protect the electoral process requires them to do so.

The Public Relations Department of the PSD said that the security plan in place aims to make access to the elections easier for the voters.

They encouraged citizens and voters to fully cooperate with police officers present at various voting centers and complying with their instructions.

Yesterday, the Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF) issued a statement in which it prohibited its members from participating in the elections as well, a move that was expected by experts months prior to the elections.

The decentralized and municipal elections will take place on Tuesday August 15.
