Israeli forces were spread out in large numbers across Jerusalem and security barriers were set up in various neighborhoods in the city.

Israeli Prime Minister had instructed Israeli forces and police today to impose limitations on worshipers entering Al Aqsa Mosque to pray, disallowing men under the age of 50 from entering. Women, regardless of their age, will be allowed to enter without any restrictions.

According to Israeli news sites, Israeli authorities have recalled troops from the West Bank and spread them in Jerusalem and areas of conflict with Palestinians. A battalion was set aside to protect several Israeli settlements in the West Bank.

The Palestinian minister of Awqaf and Religious Affairs, Yousef Id’ees, had called Palestinians earlier to head to Al Aqsa Mosque today despite Israeli efforts to prevent them from entering the Mosque to pray.

This comes after Israeli forces broke into Al Aqsa Compound yesterday after the lift of a 12-day Palestinian boycott of the stringent security measures Israeli authorities have been practicing at the Mosque.

Dozens of Palestinians were injured yesterday, and 120 were arrested after confrontations with Israeli forces and police.
