The Palestinian National Authority appreciated the efforts Jordan has made under the leadership of King Abdullah in support of Palestinians and in defense of Al Aqsa Mosque and the removal of metal detectors and security cameras at the gates of the compound.

The spokesman for the Palestinian Government Yousef Al Mahmoud said, “that entering Al Aqsa Mosque for prayers today was a momentous and historic occasion and is an indication that the Occupation will fade soon. And it was a reminder of our nation’s great victories.”

Al Mahmoud said in a press conference on Thursday, “the Palestinian Unity Government salutes the Palestinian people and martyrs, and the heroes of Jerusalem, who defended Al Aqsa gloriously.”

“The people of Palestine have proven their ability to succeed through their unity. The people of Jerusalem, be they Muslims or Christians, have proven that they are the heroes of the Palestinian nation, and that they are the guardians of Jerusalem and the holy sites,” said Al Mahmoud.

The spokesperson stressed that the “battle for Al Aqsa” is a battle for sovereignty over the city of Jerusalem, and he called for more united efforts to end Israeli occupation over Palestinian lands.
