Israeli forces have shot and killed a Palestinian on Sunday, and arrested one “youth” during predawn raids in Kafr Ein village, northwest of Ramallah in the occupied West Bank.

According to police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld, the 34-year-old Palestinian man was suspected of carrying out two shooting attacks in the West Bank on Saturday

The 34-year-old reportedly opened fire at an Israeli-plated vehicle north of Ramallah, lightly injuring the Palestinian driver. Police also claim the alleged suspect was responsible for another shooting at an Israeli military site in the Ramallah-area village of Nabi Saleh later on in the day.

He is alleged to have opened fire at soldiers and policemen who had tracked him down.

"The terrorist was found and surrounded, he pulled out his weapons at them, and in response, the terrorist was killed," Rosenfeld said.

No Israeli casualties were reported.

There was no immediate comment from Palestinian officials.

The unidentified Palestinian was the 44th Palestinian to be killed by Israelis this year, according to Ma’an News. Ten Israelis have been killed by Palestinians during the same time period.

Rights groups have routinely condemned Israeli forces an excessive use of force, with Palestinians deliberately shot dead despite posing no imminent threat to life, in what can be termed as ‘extra judicial killings.’
