Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST, also known as “Techno:) has decided to raise fees for Jordanian holders of non-Jordanian certification, as well as all Master’s programmes.
This was announced by the student movement “Thabahtouna” (You’re Killing Us), who said in a statement:
“As an extension of privatisation policies and the government’s increased distance from public universities, JUST’s administration has decided to raise their fees…”, and that this would apply to 11 out of thirty offered degree programmes. They condemn this move, stating that JUST is not the only university doing this, and claiming that it goes against article 6 of the Constitution in that it violates Jordanians’ equality in the eye of the law.
The increase in fees varies between 13% and 40%.
