Two young Palestinians were shot and killed by Israeli occupation forces in a violent military raid in Jenin refugee camp in occupied West Bank, Ma’an news agency has reported.

One 17-year-old and one 20-year-old were killed, and at least two others injured, as clashed erupted early Wednesday morning after Israeli forces raided in the camp.

"During an IDF (Israel Defence Forces) operation in the Jenin refugee camp, Palestinian gunmen opened fire at the forces and assailants hurled explosive devices at the forces," the military said in a statement.

"In response to the immediate threat, forces shot towards the attackers."

Camp residents made no mention of any Palestinian gunfire in their accounts of the raid in which they said rocks were thrown at the troops, according to Reuters.

No injuries were reported among the heavily armed and armored Israeli forces.

Alongside experiences high rates of unemployment and poverty, Jenin refugee camp has been been subject to aggressive military raids by the Israeli army for decades, and more recently of the Palestinian Authority.
