A Hispanic family living in Kuwait has decided to cash in on the fame of Colombia’s notorious drug lord Pablo Escobar by opening an ice cream parlour with the same name.

According to the Colombian news website El Tiempo, Escobar’s local popularity encouraged the enterprising immigrants to open the store.

The world learnt more about Escobar’s life and his cocaine empire through the hit Netflix series “Narcos.”

Bizarrely, the staff’s uniforms are purple t-shirts with Escobar’s smiling police mugshot printed on the back.

“Pablo Escobar” serves a cold cocktail called “Silver or lead,” a catchphrase used by the Escobar character in the Netflix show.

Escobar is widely regarded as one of the wealthiest drug barons of all time. During the 80s, he was responsible for 80 percent of the cocaine imported to the USA.

After becoming responsible for the murder of at least 3,000 people, and possibly more, Escobar was killed during a shootout in 1993 as he tried to flee from officers.
