4.3 Magnitude earthquake hits Algeria

An earthquake measuring 4.3 on the Richter scale was recorded on Sunday morning in the Aïn Témouchent Province, northwestern Algeria, reported the Algeria Press Service.

The Algerian Center for Research in Astronomy and Astrophysics Geophysics said in a statement that the epicentre of the earthquake originated 68 kilometers north-west of Bin Safi Province in Aïn Témouchent.

No casualties or losses were reported.

In 2003, the North African country experienced one of its deadliest earthquakes, which measured at 6.8 on the Richter scale, killing more than 530 people and injuring nearly 5,000 others.
