Jordan’s Armed Forces, the Arab Army and the General Security Service foiled an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of drugs through the North-East Frontier Border and arrested those involved.

The arrests were made after the Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) received information regarding plans by a number of people to enter through the north-eastern Jordan border with large quantities of drug pills, according to a joint statement by the Armed Forces and the Directorate of Public Security

The General Command of the Armed Forces in the Eastern Region, in coordination with Military Security, reportedly followed up on the information and after intense surveillance of the area seized the drug shipment before it entered the Kingdom.

A number of people were spotted trying to infiltrate the border and one suspect was arrested with a large bag containing an estimated 200,000 pills of drugs.
