Seventeen first-time offenders were released on bail in Madaba city, southwest of the Jordanian capital Amman on Thursday.

Madaba’s Deputy Governor for Public Safety and Security Affairs, Qais Al Madani, said that the men released were taken into police custody on charges of public disturbance, including noise pollution and aimlessly hanging around the streets of Madaba.

Al Madani added that 13 more offenders - arrested for harassment, drinking and car drifting - were not released before Eid El-Fitr on Sunday.

Local security campaigns will go on to ensure the safety and stability of Madaba’s citizens, Al Madani noted.
