Construction companies, workshops and other projects will be “strictly prohibited” from carrying out any business during the first and second day of the Eid Al Fitr holidays, according to regulations issued by the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) on Thursday.

Raed Haddadin, an official at GAM, said that work is only allowed on the other holiday days with special permits and in cases of emergency. Eid marks the end of the fasting month of Ramadan.

Haddadin noted that GAM will receive any complaints on the special telephone numbers (5359970 and 5359971), as well as on the municipality's website at www.ammancity.gov.jo , on social media and on the mobile number 0798166816.

GAM called on contractors and employers to refrain from carrying out any work during the Eid holiday in the interest of the welfare of citizens, considering any acts "in flagrant violation of the provisions of the National Construction Law, its codes” and the traditions of Eid.
