The Civil Defence Department (CDD) on Thursday warned parents during Eid to prevent their children from buying firecrackers, fireworks, sharp-edged toys or toy guns, which are often popular during holidays, weddings and other special occasions.

The CDD stressed the need to take a proactive approach in order to prevent dangerous and disruptive behaviour during the holiday of Eid Al Fitr, which marks the end of the fasting month of Ramadan.

Parents were also warned not to leave children inside the home without parental supervision, to avoid accidents related to household electrics, sockets and electrical appliances.

On the Kingdom's roads, the CDD urged drivers to exercise the “utmost caution” while driving, to follow speed limits and to obey traffic signs in order to prevent avoidable traffic accidents.
