Settlers of Moran Street in Tiberias are sounding the alarm over a growing snake infestation that has left families frightened and desperate for help, 'Israeli' newspaper Maariv reported.

According to multiple accounts, snakes have been appearing almost daily inside apartments, stairwells, and courtyards over the past month, prompting fears of a nest beneath residential buildings.

“We are living in a horror movie,” said one settler. “My child got up to drink water and found a snake in the dog’s cage. I go into the kitchen and find another snake. It has become routine, not a day goes by without one.”

Another described a similar experience, “My child found a small snake in the living room yesterday, probably just born. Every day we see snakes on the stairs or near the building. We’re scared to even go inside.”

Settlers say that while the municipality previously dispatched a snake catcher, the situation has only worsened. “The snakes keep coming out of the ground, and no one is checking the source or performing a full extermination,” said a frustrated settler. “This neglect puts lives in danger.”

Municipal officials have acknowledged the complaints, confirming that a snake catcher was again called in to inspect the area and assess whether targeted treatment could eliminate breeding sites. However, residents claim that action has been limited to public areas, not inside or around the buildings themselves.

“They told us it’s probably coming from the open area nearby,” one woman said. “They promised to update us, but in the meantime, we’ve already found another snake.”

Adding to the fear, some residents reported spotting scorpions as well. “It’s like living in Jurassic Park,” one man said. “It’s dangerous, and until something terrible happens, they won’t understand.”

People are now demanding an urgent and comprehensive cleanup, saying the infestation poses a serious risk to children and families who no longer feel safe in their own homes.
