‘Israel’ Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Sunday that Tel Aviv does not need permission from any party to strike targets in Gaza or Lebanon, despite agreeing to the recent US-brokered ceasefire.

During his cabinet meeting, Netanyahu stated: “Israel is an independent state, and we are not willing to tolerate attacks against us. We respond as we see fit… we do not seek permission from anyone to do so. We control our own security.”

His comments came after a week of consecutive visits by senior US officials seeking to maintain the ceasefire in Gaza amid ongoing security tensions.

Rejects Turkish participation in Gaza force

Netanyahu also said that Tel Aviv would decide which countries are allowed to join the planned international security force in Gaza.

He stressed his opposition to Turkey’s participation, saying: “We made it clear, with all due respect to the international forces, that ‘Israel’ will determine which countries are unacceptable to us.”

The international force, which is part of the ceasefire agreement, is expected to include personnel from Arab and Islamic countries to help stabilize the war-torn Gaza Strip and ensure the truce holds.
