Hamas delegation begins Cairo talks on Gaza ceasefire

Hamas announced on Saturday that its delegation has begun talks with Egyptian officials in Cairo to discuss the movement’s proposals for ending the ongoing war in Gaza and reaching a prisoner exchange deal with the Israeli occupation.

The discussions are part of what Hamas describes as a "comprehensive agreement," which would include a full "Israeli" withdrawal from the Gaza Strip and the reconstruction of areas devastated by the war.

According to a statement from Hamas, the talks will also address the humanitarian crisis caused by "Israel’s" starvation tactics against Gaza’s population, with an urgent call for the immediate entry of food, medicine, and other essential aid into the besieged enclave.

The delegation is also expected to discuss the formation of a community support committee tasked with managing the affairs of the Gaza Strip, alongside broader talks on internal Palestinian matters and strategies for addressing ongoing challenges.
