Overnight exchange of fire reported between India, Pakistan in Kashmir

An exchange of gunfire took place overnight between Indian and Pakistani forces along the Line of Control (LoC) in the disputed region of Kashmir, a senior Pakistani official said Friday.

Syed Ashfaq Gilani, an administrative official in Pakistan-administered Kashmir, told AFP: “There was an exchange of fire between two posts in the Leepa Valley during the night. Civilians were not targeted, life is normal, and schools remain open.”

The incident follows a deadly attack earlier this week in Indian-administered Kashmir, which left 26 people dead and heightened tensions between the nuclear-armed neighbors.
