Hamas issues statement on recent airstrike in southern Gaza
Hamas issued a statement condemning what it described as a “treacherous attack” carried out by an Israeli Occupation drone on Sunday morning east of Rafah.
The strike targeted police officers assigned to secure the entry of humanitarian aid, resulting in the deaths of three officers. Hamas called the attack a serious violation of the ceasefire agreement.
The statement further accused "Israel" of repeatedly disregarding and failing to uphold the terms of the agreement. Hamas cited "Israel’s" recent refusal to allow the entry of caravans and heavy machinery, despite having previously committed to doing so and informing mediators at the end of last week.
Hamas also pointed to "Israel’s" delays in initiating negotiations for the second phase of the agreement, arguing that this demonstrates a lack of seriousness in adhering to the deal brokered by mediators and witnessed by the international community.
The group claimed that "Israeli" Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was deliberately obstructing the agreement and the prisoner exchange process, seeking instead to resume aggression and commit further acts of genocide.
The movement held the Israeli Occupation fully responsible for the consequences of these actions and called on mediators to fulfill their duties in ensuring "Israel" honors its commitments.
Hamas urged immediate intervention to halt "Israel’s" repeated violations of the ceasefire and demanded full implementation of the humanitarian protocol, along with the immediate start of second-phase negotiations.
