Young woman sentenced to death for fatally stabbing her father in Russeifa

The Grand Criminal Court has sentenced a young woman in her twenties to death by hanging for fatally stabbing her father in the heart in Russeifa.

The court convicted the defendant of premeditated murder of a direct relative, in violation of Article 328(3) of the Penal Code.

The crime took place in August in Russeifa and stemmed from family disputes between the father and mother, which eventually led to their divorce.

Following the divorce, the wife left the home, leaving the defendant, her younger brother, and their father alone in the house.

According to the ruling, the defendant locked herself in her room. Out of concern for her safety, her father knocked on the door, asking her to come out.

Upon leaving her room, a verbal altercation erupted between the defendant and her father. During the argument, the defendant grabbed a knife and stabbed her father in the chest, leading to his death.
