Israeli Occupation War Minister Yoav Gallant stated on Sunday that a ground attack on Rafah would happen "as soon as possible" following a Hamas assault that killed two soldiers and wounded others at the Karam Abu Salem crossing.

During an inspection of forces in the "Netzarim" axis dividing the Gaza Strip, Gallant remarked, "It seems Hamas does not intend to reach an agreement, so a military operation in Rafah and the entire Strip will happen soon."

Two Israeli Occupation soldiers died and several others were injured on Sunday after between 10 and 30 missiles struck the Karam Abu Salem crossing area.

The Al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas' military wing, claimed responsibility for the attack.

The Israeli Occupation military reported shells were fired from Rafah in southern Gaza towards the crossing, now closed to aid trucks heading to the Strip.

Karam Abu Salem crossing is vital for delivering much-needed humanitarian aid into Gaza. The incident comes amid a humanitarian crisis in Gaza with shortages of food, medicine, and other supplies.
