Safadi urges de-escalation in region amid Jordan's firm stance on airspace violations

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, emphasized the urgent need to de-escalate the increasingly dangerous situation in the region on Friday.

He reiterated Jordan's firm stance against allowing the region to become a battleground between Iran and the Israeli Occupation, underscoring the imperative of safeguarding Jordan's security and the well-being of its citizens.

In a phone conversation with his Iranian counterpart, Hussein Amir Abdullahian, following reports of the Israeli Occupation's attack on Iran, Safadi made it clear that Jordan would not tolerate any violations of its airspace by Iran or the Israeli Occupation.

He communicated to the Iranian Foreign Minister the importance of respecting Jordan's airspace, emphasizing that Jordan had never permitted nor would permit the Israeli Occupation to breach its airspace to target Iran. Similarly, Jordan would not tolerate any violations of its airspace by Iran.

Safadi emphasized that the current escalation only serves to distract attention from the Israeli Occupation aggression against Gaza, which must be the foremost priority demanding collective efforts to halt it.

The Iranian Foreign Minister assured that his country respects Jordan's sovereignty and is committed to ensuring the security of Jordan and the wider region.

Safadi took to social media platform "X" to condemn the regional escalation as a peril that must be averted. He denounced any actions that could lead to a regional conflict, emphasizing the necessity to halt the Israeli Occupation-Iranian escalation and concentrate efforts on ending the severe Israeli Occupation aggression against Gaza.

Safadi held a meeting with Al-Lahiyan on the sidelines of Security Council meetings in New York.
