The UK’s Prime Minister Rishi Sunak called on the “Israeli” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to allow “calm heads to prevail” after Iran’s massive aerial attack on the Israeli Occupation Saturday night - per an official statement from Sunak’s office.

In a call Tuesday with Netanyahu, Sunak underscored that this “significant escalation was in no one's interest and would only deepen insecurity in the Middle East. This was a moment for calm heads to prevail.”

Sunak “reiterated the UK's steadfast support for Israel's security and for wider regional stability,” the statement added.

Regarding the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, Sunak said that he is “gravely concerned about the deepening humanitarian crisis.”

Sunak communicated in the call with Netanyahu the UK’s desire to see a “massive step change in aid access to flood Gaza with vital supplies, including Israel opening up new aid routes as quickly as possible.”
