Australian authorities have labeled the recent knife attack during a church service in Sydney as a terrorist incident, following injuries sustained by at least four individuals, including a prominent bishop with a significant online following.

Police arrested a 15-year-old boy at the scene of the attack, which took place in a church located in the suburb of Wakley, approximately 30 kilometers west of Sydney's city center. The assailant approached the altar of an Assyrian church and stabbed Bishop Mar Mary Emmanuel.

New footage emerged depicting the moment when bystanders attempted to subdue the teenage attacker at a church in western Sydney. Amidst the commotion, some worshipers sought refuge while others intervened to restrain the assailant.

The incident unfolded at the Church of the Good Shepherd in the Wakley suburb, home to a small community of Assyrian Christians, many of whom fled conflict in Iraq and Syria.

A video circulating on social media, also shared by Reuters, showed worshippers attempting to calm the attacker, seemingly conversing with him in Arabic.
