The Palestinian Ministry of Education confirmed that 4,895 students have been martyred and 8,514 others have been injured since the beginning of the Israeli Occupation aggression on the Gaza Strip and the West Bank on October 7 last year.

It added that 44 students were martyred in the West Bank, with 283 others injured, noting the detention of 89 students.

The ministry pointed out that 239 teachers and administrators were martyred, with 836 injured in the Gaza Strip, and 6 injured in the West Bank, while more than 71 were detained in the West Bank.

The ministry highlighted that 620,000 students are still deprived of joining their schools since October 7 last year.

It noted that 286 government schools and 65 UNRWA schools were subjected to shelling and sabotage in the Gaza Strip, resulting in 83 of them suffering severe damage and seven being completely destroyed.

Additionally, 49 schools in the West Bank were subjected to invasion and sabotage.

The Ministry of Education affirmed that the Israeli Occupation forces' targeting of schools affected 90 percent of government school buildings and educational facilities that suffered direct and indirect damage, in addition to 29 percent of school buildings that cannot be operated due to complete demolition or severe damage. Moreover, 133 government schools were used as shelters in the Gaza Strip.
