Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez rejected a European Union military intervention to protect shipping vessels in the Red Sea, stating that "Spain does not support the use of the EU naval force [Operation Atalanta] in protecting commercial ships in the Red Sea from the Houthi group in Yemen."

"Madrid does not oppose establishing a different mission there." He elaborated, however.

Spain joins France and Italy in withdrawing their participation from the US-led alliance to protect the Israeli Occupation ships.

This comes as Houthi continue their military operations in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea against ships associated with the Israeli occupation, in which the United States formed an international naval coalition to protect.
