The Court of Cassation upheld a verdict issued by the Grand Criminal Court, sentencing a person who stabbed his sister to death to 25 years in prison.

The initial death penalty by hanging was commuted, considering the family's decision to waive their personal rights over the accused, who committed the crime.

According to details outlined in the ruling, the tragic incident unfolded as the victim separated from her husband and returned to reside in her father's home.

The accused harbored suspicions about his sister's conduct due to her frequent absence from home, subjecting her to physical abuse and threats.

Amidst escalating tensions, the father decided to expel his son from the family residence, leading the accused to set up a makeshift dwelling adjacent to their home.

He continued to closely monitor his sister's movements, even after her release from a correctional facility, where she had been detained.

She subsequently returned to live in her father's house, as per the court decision.

The fatal episode occurred when the victim's father, a shepherd by profession, was away from home.

Seizing the opportunity, the accused entered the kitchen and launched a surprise attack, stabbing his sister in the neck and back until she collapsed in a pool of blood.

After confirming her demise, the accused disposed of the murder weapon in the sink, washed his hands, and then voluntarily surrendered himself to the local security center.
