The Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) has commenced the demolition of several homes in Jabal Al-Joufeh, located to the east of the capital, Amman.

These properties came under government ownership following a decision by the Prime Minister's office back in 2019.

One of the residents told Roya that the GAM had notified the occupants of the 29 buildings, housing over 50 families, in August to vacate their homes in preparation for demolition.

They explained that the demolition is part of the GAM's plan to clear the area of old structures and transform it into a green zone featuring parks and parking facilities.
