Two individuals drowned Tuesday in the King Abdullah Canal in the northern Shouna area, according to the Civil Defense Directorate (CDD).

Efforts by CDD teams led to the recovery of the bodies of a 50-year-old man and his 12-year-old nephew from the canal's waters.

They were evacuated to Muath bin Jabal Governmental Hospital but died soon after.

An investigation into the incident has been launched.
