Jordan’s Ministry of Health issued a series of guidelines aimed at helping citizens prevent heat-related issues such as heat exhaustion and sunstroke due to the ongoing heatwave in the country.

The Ministry posted information on its online platforms detailing the signs of heatstroke and outlining recommended steps to take if someone experiences heatstroke.

Additionally, the Ministry reminded individuals of the precautions that should be adopted during such weather conditions. These precautions include staying away from direct sunlight and refraining from going outdoors, especially for individuals at a higher risk of heatstroke, such as those with chronic illnesses like cardiovascular diseases and high blood pressure, as well as elderly individuals and children who struggle to adapt to elevated temperatures.

The Ministry also emphasized the importance of parents ensuring that their children do not engage in outdoor play, are not left alone inside vehicles during hot weather, and avoid engaging in physically strenuous activities.

To stay safe, the Ministry recommended wearing light and breathable cotton clothing and maintaining proper hydration by regularly drinking ample water. This will help prevent dehydration, which can be a consequence of the soaring temperatures.
