Google is in the process of creating an AI tool specifically for news publishers, capable of generating article text and headlines, signaling a potential transformation in the journalism industry, according to CNN.

The tech giant is actively seeking partnerships with news outlets to incorporate this AI tool into their newsrooms.

A Google spokesperson emphasized that their aim is to offer journalists the option to use these emerging technologies to enhance their productivity, much like the assistive tools available in Gmail and Google Docs.

The project, internally known as "Genesis," has reportedly been pitched to media companies like The New York Times, The Washington Post, and News Corp, which owns The Wall Street Journal.

While Google did not disclose the names of the media companies involved, it specified a focus on "smaller publishers" and assured that the project is not intended to replace journalists or undermine their indispensable role in reporting, creating, and fact-checking articles.

It was also reported that by empowering journalists with AI-driven capabilities, Google's innovation aims to equip the industry with powerful tools that complement human expertise, ultimately delivering even more engaging, informative, and impactful stories to audiences worldwide.
