'I'm going to die': Child tells father before drowning in well in Karak

The father of a six-year-old child, Nart Al Zayadeen, who drowned after falling into a well in As-Simakiyah area in Karak earlier in April, spoke to Roya about the details of the incident.

The father, Laith Al Zayadeen, said “He [Nart] went out to play as usual at around 4-5pm.”

His mother went out to look for him but she could not find him, she looked inside the well that Nart had fell into but could not find anything so she kept on looking for him elsewhere, the father added.

“After locals found out that my son was missing they helped look for him. At the time I was at work and was not aware of what was going on,” he continued. They kept searching for the child for hours, the father noted.

He continued that around 7:30pm, “I received a call and I could not believe it.” He was informed that his child had died.

“I hurried back from my workplace to find civil defense teams looking everywhere for my son. They found him 15 minutes later in the same well that his mother looked inside.”

A month prior to his death, Nart told his father “I’m going to die.”

According to Al Zayadeen, the well was five-meter deep.
