Since the beginning of 2021, the Mafraq Civil Defense Directorate (CDD) has dealt with nine incidents of houses burning due to heating equipment, resulting in four deaths and four injuries.

The director of Mafraq CDD, Hamza Al-Sa'idah, told Roya that house fires incidents have rapidly increased due to the presence of gas heated equipment inside homes.

The heating equipment is usually of low quality, and there seems to be a lack of safety measures taken by parents, said Sa'idah. He added that parents regularly leave these equipment unsupervised with children.

Sa'idah urged citizens to remain cautious when using heating equipment, especially in the presence of children. He asked families to keep a fire extinguisher inside their homes to prevent deadly fires.

He proposed that gas heaters be replaced with air-energy powered equipment.

The head of the prevention department in the Mafraq CDD Musa Al-Azayzeh, explained that the aforementioned deaths and injuries were from two cases.
