The head of the coronavirus portfolio Wael al-Hayajneh spoke Friday about the common side effects among those who received the COVID-19 vaccine in Jordan.

In a video published by the Ministry of Health, he said the symptoms that may or may not occur include swelling, pain at the injection site, fever, joint pain, muscle pain, general fatigue, nausea and swollen lymph nodes.

However, Hayajneh stressed that these symptoms are not dangerous but called on those who got vaccinated to report all side effects to the Ministry or the Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) by contacting one of the following numbers:

The Ministry of Health announced Friday that Jordan has confirmed a total of 10,216 coronavirus cases and 67 deaths between Feb. 5 and Feb. 12.

The ministry added that the seven-day average rate of positive PCR test results is 5.87 percent.


Speaking of the COVID-19 situation in the Kingdom, the Ministry of Education said that 74 coronavirus cases were recorded in schools across the Kingdom Thursday.

The ministry added that 49 of the aforementioned number have not attended in-person education since the beginning of the second semester, and from the 49 cases, 36 infections were from teachers, 14 of whom did not attend schools, in addition to three school administrators who attended schools.

Additionally, from the 74 cases, 35 students were infected with COVID-19 who did not yet attend in-person education.

The ministry indicated that the general rate of compliance with the health protocol is 97.7 percent.


The Minister of Tourism Nayef al-Fayez stressed Friday that reallowing shisha is not a priority. He added that they will only allow serving shisha when the COVID-19 situation in the Kingdom is ‘comfortable.’

Fayez pointed out that over the past few days, there has been an increase in the percentage of positive PCR tests in Jordan. In order for the return of tourism to what it was, the percentage needs to be less than five percent.


In sad news, a nine-year-old child drowned in a pool in Ma’an earlier today. The child drowned in a pool for harvesting rainwater near the Jarthanah Dam in Ma'an.

The Public Security Directorate said the diving teams at the Ma'an Civil Defense Directorate recovered the child's body from the pool and transported it to the Ma'an Governmental Hospital.


Thursday, at least six people were killed and dozens were injured in a 130-car pileup on an icy freeway in Texas.

Fort Worth Fire Department spokesman said in a news conference the crash was probably caused by icy conditions.

The National Weather Service warned of continued freezing rain and sleet in the area.
