Tunisian Prime Minister Hisham El-Mechichi said that the normalization of his country's relations with the Israeli Occupation "is not an issue," days after Morocco decided to resume its relations with the Hebrew state.

"This is an option that Morocco has adopted freely. We respect the choice of brotherly Morocco and the country we love so much. As for Tunisia, this issue is not on the table," Mechichi said in an interview with France 24.

"Every country has its own reality and truth, and every country has its own diplomacy, which it deems best for its people," he added, noting that the US administration did not raise this issue with him.

US President Donald Trump announced last Thursday that Morocco had pledged to normalize relations with the Israeli Occupation and that Washington recognized Moroccan sovereignty over the disputed Western Sahara.

After the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Sudan, Morocco has become the fourth Arab country since August to announce the normalization of its relations with the Israeli Occupation.
