Health Minister: Coronavirus incubation period could be as long as 27 days

The Minister of Health, Dr. Saad Jaber, has published a tweet on his Twitter official account, confirming that the incubation period of coronavirus is one to 14 days and could be as long as 24 days or 27 days.

In the tweet, Jaber said that some people who got infected with the virus around the world showed symptoms after 27 days and that a person may transmit the virus to other people without showing symptoms. In addition, a person may transmit the virus to others before he/she even show symptoms.

He pointed out that the best way to deal with the virus is to follow the following instructions:

Home quarantine:

The duration of the home quarantine is estimated to be 14 days and may extend to 24 days, which is the incubation period of the virus before the person shows any symptoms or becomes contagious.

Why people should commit to home quarantine?

Home quarantine is the best option. If the virus spreads, just like the case in the Chinese city of Wuhan, the quarantine rooms at the Kingdom's hospitals would become full and there will be no enough space for all patients.

In addition, it helps to control the virus and limit its spread in the country if the person was carrying the virus or infected.

The decisive moment:

The decisive moment when it comes to the virus is the moment when the quarantined person shows symptoms, such as fever, cough, sore throat, joint pain, shortness of breath, fatigue, headache, dizziness. Although the stages of infection with the virus may begin shortly before symptoms appear, they peak when the symptoms appear.

The infected person must make an informed and responsible decision, considering his family members and the people of the country.

The infected must also avoid direct contact with others and shouldn't leave home.

The patient should also wear a face mask, then call the coronavirus emergency number (111) and explain the case to the doctor, where the doctor will give the necessary instructions to him/her.

The competent authorities will be contacted and will determine the next step, where the patient may be advised to commit to home quarantine or may be asked to head to an approved medical center. The patient may also be taken via a private vehicle to an approved center.
