Minister of State for Media Affairs, Amjad Adaileh, said on late Wednesday, April 1, the Egyptian authorities informed the Jordanian Embassy in Cairo that a Jordanian citizen died, as a result of a COVID-19 infection.

Adaileh said the deceased, a 57-year-old man, had arrived in Egypt on March 18, coming from the United States, as a transit passenger on a route to Turkey.

The Jordanian embassy in Cairo, the moment it was officially informed a few days ago of the Jordanian citizen's COVID-19 infection, coordinated with the concerned Egyptian government agencies to take all necessary medical measures and monitor his health condition on a daily basis while in the isolation hospital, in coordination with his brother who has been in Egypt for years, Adaileh pointed out.

The body of the deceased will be buried in Cairo today, according to the procedures in place in such circumstances, he announced.
