The Public Security Directorate (PSD) has warned citizens of the consequences of violating Defence Order No. 5 under legal penalties.

In a statement released today, the PSD said relevant direct instructions were issued to implement the Defence Order No.5 "directly and firmly," without compromise or discrimination.

The PSD also said strict measures are in place to monitor movement of vehicles, adding whoever uses his/her vehicle will be arrested and the vehicle impounded.

In such a case, the driver will be sent to the public prosecutor for violating defence orders, and the same procedure will be applied against authorized vehicles if motorists violate defense orders for carrying more than one person.
