The Jordan Media Commission (JMC) warned the printed, audio and visual media outlets against publishing, broadcasting or circulating rumors and fake news, due to their negative impacts on Jordan's national security.

In a statement issued today, the JMC called on various media outlets to convey the truth by obtaining information only from official sources.

"In light of the latest developments on the coronavirus outbreak, the JMC has intensified its follow-up measures on media content," the statement said, adding that the JMC will take immediate legal actions against any media outlet that publishes or broadcasts rumors, news, reports, or videos that spread fear and panic among citizens or affect the public security and stability.
