General Manager of Aqaba Airports Company (AAC), Nasser Majali, said the thermal detection devices to test passengers at King Hussein International Airport (KHIA) in Aqaba are "fully functional."

All medical teams specialized in anti-coronavirus procedures are fully operational at the KHIA, he pointed out.

In a statement he made today, Majali said the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) issued a declaration announcing that flights are banned as of midnight Tuesday at all the world's airports, including Jordan's, as part of precautionary measures to combat the COVID-19.

In a related context, director of Aqaba Health Directorate, Dr. Ibrahim Muayah, announced the Aqaba governorate is "free" from any infection of the novel coronavirus, adding its medical teams are on-duty at the city's crossings and the KHIA to follow up on any cases that may be discovered.
