In a voice note to citizens this morning, Prime Minister Omar Razzaz confirmed that Jordan has sufficient stocks of food and medicine and that there's no need for panic-buying.

Regarding the suspension of flights, the Prime Minister said that Jordan has not suspended the flights of land, air and sea freight for goods, food and medicine, stressing that there will be no lack of food and medicine in Jordan.

"Being in crowded places increases the risk of disease transmission," Razzaz confirmed.

He pointed out that stockpiling won't be useful as the products would be expired.

Razzaz warned against raising the prices of some commodities, in conjunction with the high demand on these commodities.

As the government announced a series of coronavirus preventive measures yesterday afternoon, shoppers in various areas of the Kingdom flocked to stores to stock up on shelf-stable items ranging from frozen foods and canned goods to rice and bread.

The reason for this stockpiling is fear of future shortages or quarantines that would prevent people from getting what they need.
