Chinese authorities have announced that the coronavirus death toll has risen to 80, as the virus has spread to other countries, Sky News English reported.

The coronavirus has so far infected more than 2,700 people, as most of the cases were reported in Wuhan, China’s Hubei province, the city where the virus originated in December 2019.

Governments across the globe have confirmed 40 cases of the virus, most of them are Chinese tourists or citizens from Wuhan.

Countries with confirmed cases of coronavirus are:

China: 2,744 cases, 769 of which were discovered in the last 24 hours, with five cases in Hong Kong and two in Macau. Deaths have approximately reached 80 in Hubei Province.

United States: 5 cases; two in Southern California and one in Washington, one in Chicago, and one in Arizona.

Thailand: 8 cases.

Australia: 5 cases.

South Korea: 4 cases.

Singapore: 4 cases.

Malaysia: 4 cases.

France: 3 cases.

Taiwan: 3 cases.

Vietnam: 2 cases.

Canada: One case.

Nepal: One case.

The virus has caused panic among people. It causes pneumonia, coughs, fever and breathing difficulties to those who have fallen ill. In severe cases there can be organ failure.
