The high water level due to torrential rain has caused rainwater to raid shops in Downtown Amman this evening.

A shop owner has said, "Rainwater flowed from the torrent to the shops."

According to Roya's correspondent, the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) cadres are working on pumping out the floodwaters which raided the shops.

The Amman Chamber of Commerce had earlier called on shop owners to take the necessary precautions during the weather conditions affecting the kingdom and to take the weather warnings issued by the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD), the Civil Defense Directorate (CDD) and GAM into consideration.

In last winter, several shops in Downtown Amman have been raided by rainwater with large losses estimated at JD6 million.
