Hebrew media claimed on Wednesday, December 4, 2019, that Jordan had prevented a group of settlers from entering the Kingdom for wearing clothing with Jewish signs.

The Israel Hayom newspaper reported that the settlers were on their way to Jordan on Tuesday, December 3, but were prevented from entering Jordan because some of them were wearing "tzitzit", a piece of clothing worn by Jewish rabbis.

The newspaper also reported that Jordan and the Israeli occupation authorities had earlier reached an agreement, through which Jews, who would like to enter Jordan, must wear hats instead of kippots for security purposes. However, when the settlers crossed the Jordanian borders, security guards refused to let them in because some of them were wearing tzitzit – the specially knotted ritual fringes – under their clothes.

Givatayim Deputy Mayor Moshe Goldstein said, "During the first security check, we were told, by Jordanian border security, to take off our kippot and put hats on instead. When the security screening was over, they stopped us again because they realized some in the group were wearing tzitzit."

The settlers called on the Israeli Foreign Ministry to review the incident with the Jordanian Foreign Ministry.
