Spokesman for the Public Security Directorate (PSD), Amer Sartawi confirmed that the crime rate in Jordan is "normal" and is similar to what it was in previous years.

In special statements to Roya, Sartawi pointed out that there is no noticeable rise in the crime rate in the Kingdom, stressing that crimes occur in all countries of the world.

Sartawi mentioned that as several crimes are being reported by media outlets, people think that the crime rate is high.

"We hope to keep crime rate as normal as we can," he mentioned.

Sartawi also talked about the PSD personnel's role in dealing with the crimes, confirming that this role helped in decreasing the number of some crimes, such as fraud.

He pointed out that in previous years, some minor crimes such as insults were not included in the statistics, but in 2018 and 2019, they were introduced.
